We were again at Millenium Park in Chicago, where people from around the world come to take in its free concerts and public sculpture. We gathered 230 signatures from 9 countries on our petitions stating:
To: Secretary of State Clinton and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon:
We demand:
* immediate and unconditional freedom of Sakineh Ashtiani, Maryam Ghorbanzadeh, Azar Bagheri, and
* for all others imprisoned in Iran on charges of “adultery” or political “crimes”.
* that stoning executions cease immediately worldwide wherever they continue to be practiced.
* that the UN break its reprehensible silence on these and other ongoing atrocities perpetrated by the Islamic Republic regime in Iran.
We will send the petitions Monday to Clinton and Ki-Moon. All defenders of Sakineh and other victims of the Iranian regime can follow up Tuesday and for the rest of the week by calling Secretary of State Clinton at (202) 647-5291 and the UN Human Rights Council
(212) 963-5931. You can record a message at the State Dept. and talk to a staffer at the UN. THEY MUST SPEAK OUT for Sakineh and against the brutal and deadly human rights abuses of the Islamic Republic of Iran!!
