TOULOUSE – France

On Saturday 28, Place du Capitole in TOULOUSE, south west FRANCE, on a lovely sunny afternoon, we placed on an easel a striking painting of a stoning which was very much appreciated by passers-by and journalists.
Our aim was to distribute 1.000 tracts to declare: besides Sakineh’s case, no more stoning anywhere in the world. The people were very receptive and had heard about Mrs Sakineh Ashtiani. The local press La dépêche du midi was there and made a short report on the following day (see photo), AFP reported our action in national newspapers. We hope that this action will be successful and stop this barbarity for ever. We are ready for another day of action if necessary.

Saturday 28th August at 2:00 pm I was setting up my corner in Manchester Piccadilly. Typically it was raining on and off. I tried to find a spot which would allow us to stay and talk to people and get petitions. At last I found a corner which was partly covered beside cafe Nero. Soon after putting a few posters on the ground i found myself surrounded by many curious people who wanted to know who Sakineh was and what she had done. There were ofcourse many people who knew her story and were appalled by what is happening in Iran concerning her execution by stoning. I was then joined by Julian and Barbara, who generously stayed with me and helped me through the whole protest. Of course I was also supported by Iranian friends who knew I was going to put the protest on.
