Subject :   Repport of : 100 cities against stoning.

Brussels
BrusselsTime: 15.00
Place: Avenue F. D. ROOSEVELT 15 1050 Bruxelles (IXELLES) in front of Iranian embassy

Dear Friends,

After the Big manifestation in front of the palace of justice in Brussels, organised by the Belgian Woman associations, there was a symbolic closing manifestation in front of the Iranian embassy.

There where much less people there than the main Brussels event but the resposables of the organisations came there to make the statement there again in the name of all world wide protesters. Toghether with Iranian representants of there organisations we just wanted to confront Iran directly on there ‘door step’ as a claer statement. This is not a good place to gather hundreds or more people because there’s only the sidewalk to stand on.  They had clossed there windows down.

We can say that the Brussels events where succesfull and paecefull. Also the other event in Belgium did well. Never the less, we alway’s can do better. In the press it was repported, but it was a bit in the shadow of the other actual information about two other isseus who came just this day on a very critical point. Ofcourse the making of a new gouvernement and the case of sexual shild abusse in the katholic church. Anyway the action was in the eveningnews on TV and radio.

Giving some pictures who are OK to put on the diverse websites of one law for all and others.

I hope that Sonja Eggerinckx send you images and text about the Justice palace manifestation so you get an overvieuw of the Brussels manifestation as a whole.

Peter Calluy – contact : Brussels ( Iranian embassy )

Dear friends,

As the contact person for this Brussels manifestation, Asked by my dear friend Mrs Maryam Namazie of the UK organisation ‘one law for all’ ,  I like to say some words :
First of all:

In the name of the global organisation of 100 CITY’S AGAINST STONING I welcome you all here in Brussels / Belgium – capital of Europe.

We are here together, all people with very different backgrounds to raise our voice against the cruel practice of burieing human beings in the ground up to there middel and killing them by trowing stones.

We are here in front of the Iranian embassy  to express our solidarity with Mrs Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani and here children, she is sentenced to dead by stoning by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court,

The English newspaper the guardian reported on 06 august 2010 that Mrs Ashtiani is aware of the protests taking place and said that this was here only hope. She thanked the campaigners for highlighting her case and said international pressure was her only hope for release.  So I may say in here name , thank you for the support.

I also suggest that the European institutions taking a clear and firm stand in this matter.

This case is exemplary for all the other victims of similar cruel treatment of human beings. Not only in Iran, but in far to many country’s around the world.

There is no argument strong enough to justify this kind of treatment. No religion or life philosophy, no political ideology, no economic interests or whatever can be a reason for such kind of so called justice. This is an insult to the entire humanity and an insult to justice itself. This got nothing to do with justice and such behaviour executed by whoever it may be , does not belong in the 21 century.

Stones are there to build houses for shelter, to built schools for decent education and to built hospitals for good healthcare.  ‘And yes, probably also for prisons to evacuate real criminals for a de-terminated time from society, but in a humanitarian acceptable way’. Stones are certainly not there to throw harmless human being to dead. What ever the reason may be.

That is the point we are making today, toghether with al other manifesters around the world.

So Brussels, for Mrs Ashtiani, for her children, for the other worldwide manifestators,  and for yourself,I ask you for a loud applause so everybody out there (and in there – pointing at Iran embassy)  can hear that in Belgium and the capital of Europe we are aware of the inhuman behaviour where ever it happens in the world. We don’t accept it, not for any reason , not ever, and nowhere.

Thank you very much.

Bradford – UK

I was part of a small demonstration in Bradford today for the Free Sakineh campaign and against stoning as part of the 100 cities against stoning campaign. The problem was that policing measures on the day, due to an English Defence League (EDL) protest in the city that day.

800 members of the far-right EDL held a demonstration against militant Islam. The problem is their policy on human rights abuses in Islamic countries is that its fine. They believe the problem is the growing muslim population in the UK and they were proven wrong today.

The EDL had their demonstration and fought police, local people and each other but were ultimately ignorant of one thing that much of Bradford understood. That the stoning and torture of citizens by any state is wrong.

I was going to Bradford to protest the EDL but am a supporter of the campaign and felt it relevant to bring this up in Bradford at the anti-racist demonstrations. I talked to locals, especially muslim youth about the demonstrations and the case. Some knew of the case already and were supporters.

However, most were not willing to have a photo taken with the banner due to the tension in the city on the day. One man volunteered to have a picture taken holding the Free Sakineh banner that I had made in front of the police cordon that impeded our protest.

We unfurled the banner to cheers and applause from the anti-racist demonstrators. Anti-racists and muslim youth in Bradford know about Sakineh's case.

The campaign against stoning has our support.
