|By the present petition and on behalf of the Principle of Human Dignity, a structural axis of the current Constitution of the Federative Republic of Brazil, the 91.000 subscribers of the Brazilian initiative \"Stones Were Not Made to Kill Women,\" circulated and was subscribed by people from the whole world through the social media network Facebook, come to you, calling for your immediate and vigorous action.|
Due to well known and publicised pressure exerted by citizens from the 4 corners of the world, the ruthless execution [death by public stoning] of Iranian women Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, that should take place last September, was commuted for a \"more humane\" sentence of an outrageous execution by hanging.
Dilma! Neither us nor Sakineh can wait until January 1, 2011 to see you assuming your rightful place among the most powerful women on earth: Brazil Presidency. Today dozens of innocent people are kept in prisons devoid of humanity, suspended by the cruel fate of anguish and uncertainty about their lives. They were arrested and confined to prisons, after summary trials conducted behind closed doors and based on confessions extracted under torture [despite its ban in 2005]. These relentless and inhuman \"judgements\" with no right of appeal by the defendant, systematically take place without any consideration or respect for those human beings and respective rights.
The described practices against women are, in the Iranian Republic, common and recurrent. As a paradigmatic example we mention Atefah Saaleeh case, a 16 year old girl that was cruelly sentenced and ruthlessly executed in 2004, under the hideous conviction for \"crimes against chastity\", after being continually raped by a former member of the Revolutionary Guard Corps...
These and dozens of similar abuses continuously perpetrated in a inadmissible manner in Iran, sum up to the relentless pain and humiliations women suffers in their intimacy, configured by the heinous crime of rape. In an infamous and outrageous manner they are subsequently murdered by the same State that, in the first place, should defend and protect them.
We trust that, being a Brazilian citizen, an honoured and prestigious stateswomen, wife, mother, grandmother and foremost a human being imbued with the highest moral and humanistic values, you can\'t lay your hands down and stay indifferent, after becoming aware of the content of this Rogation. We all are absolutely convinced that, touched by deep compassion and compelled to act, you will step forward on behalf of the values of Life, Human Dignity and Equity.
Subscribers of this cause, urge you to remind and stress, your Iranian counterpart, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the need to comply and enforce Treaties, Declarations and International Conveys that both Iran and Brazil, had signed and agreed upon. That includes the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights adopted by the UN and enforced since 1976, the Convention on the Rights of the Child and particularly the Universal Declaration of Human Rights , where Iran took over as \"a common goal to all peoples and nations.\"
We urge you to take such measures and actions as soon as possible, with agreement and reaffirmation by the current president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, even before you are vested in the highest office of Brazilian Federal Republic.
President elected Dilma Roussef, time is running out.
Like Sakineh and Atefah, innocent women, young teenagers or even children, are being raped and sacrificed every day. For all that, we Brazilians as well as the thousands of citizens of the world who have joined us, request your crucial intervention.
