Second meeting of
International Committee against Stoning with Charles Whitely the head of the
human rights commission of the European Union
On Friday September 13, Mina Ahadi, co-ordinator of the International Committee against stoning and Hossain Pishineh, an activist of the Committee had a meeting with Charles Whitely, the head of Human Right Commotion of European Union. In this meeting Mina Ahadi has criticised EU’s policy toward Islamic regime of Iran regarding stoning and asked them for a report of the actions have been taken by EU regarding this issue.
Charles Whitely has
mentioned the action taken by EU especially in case of Ameneh Laval. He added
that EU had issue a statement regarding stoning. In this statement they have asked all the participants to boycott
the beauty contest that is going to be held in Nigeria in November 2002. Regarding the stoning sentences of four
women in Iran, EU is opposing it indirectly and nonofficial, Mr. Whitely said. The representatives of the Committee have
expressed their strong opposition to this policy. Stoning is unimaginable and brutal crime of this century and no
organisation can defend human rights without protesting against stoning
officially and openly. EU is facing
protest from the Iranian people and opposition groups for not condemning one of
the criminal governments of the century.
The International Committee
against Stoning is condemning the policy of European Union regarding the
Islamic regime of Iran. The Committee
will be continue to it’s affords and activities to put pressure on EU to
condemn this brutal regime and its act of crime against women and humanity. We ask all freedom loving organizations and
individuals to send a protest letter to the European Union and urge them to
take an official action against the Islamic regime of Iran and the practice of
stoning in Iran.
